About

WVU Mountaineer - West Virginia University

On May 20th, 1911 Mutual Protective Association (MPA) was incorporated as an assessable farm mutual fire insurance company by members of the Church of the Brethren. The company location is currently Baker, WV but back when it was first formed the office was located in Romney, WV. The company was formed under the farm mutual code in WV and is currently governed by that same code today.

From Romney, WV the office was moved to Moorefield, WV through a charter amendment that was passed on January 26, 1963. Through another amendment to the charter on April 18, 1992, the home office location was moved to Baker, WV where it remained until October 2018 when the office was relocated back to Moorefield, WV.

The Company is licensed to do business in the state of West Virginia and now operates as a non-assessable company and currently has business in eight counties of WV. Our products are marketed through the independent agency system with which strong relationships have been forged. We currently offer coverage on Dwellings, Farm Buildings, Farm Equipment, Mobile Homes, Cabins, Small Commercial Risk, Businessowners Policies and Seasonal Property.

We are proud of the company heritage and services that are offered to our customers and look forward to continued success for many years to come.

Why Choose a Mutual?

At Mutual Protective Association of West Virginia we do not have shareholders – so that means we put the needs of our policyholders first.
